This garden has been designed for the use of those staying in the home. It has been designed around a series of privacy from other areas. The planting in the garden is summer oriented with plenty of scent and colour. The pergola arches afford a little shade and some height, bringing the planting to an easily accessable height. The paths are wide enough for wheelchair use and includes a ramp for access to and from the day room. . The surfaces are well constructed and firm throughout with sealed gravel for the paths. There is a small bubble fountain to add a relaxed atmosphere to the main sitting area and the planting has been designed to be colourful throughout the summer. The colour is enhanced by plenty of scent and textured foliage.
The most important thing in a garden of this nature is to ensure that everything is constructed to the highest possible standard and the paths are flat and easy to negotiate by foot and in a wheel chair. Everything has to be safe. It is also important to ensure it can be enjoyed from both inside and out and that the whole is both relaxing and stimulating. The final garden is a joy and is much loved by both the patients and the staff.
